FIFA 23 crossplay leaks: Compatible game modes, platforms, next-gen and more

Crossplay could feature in FIFA 23 later this year, giving players the opportunity to play against players on different platforms.

Crossplay has been requested by many in the FIFA community for years, and it could finally be getting introduced in EA Sports’ next and last instalment of their FIFA video game franchise. Crossplay testing has been introduced into FIFA 22 Online Seasons and Online Friendlies in the past few weeks, all but confirming EA’s intentions to bring it into FIFA 23.

Crossplay allows players from different consoles to play with each other rather than restricting players to opponents with the same platform. With the arrival of FIFA 23 now just a few months away, information about the upcoming game has started to be leaked on social media.

One of those leaks online has been from the reliable FIFA account @DonkTrading, with the account ‘leaking’ information about the crossplay features in FIFA 23. Below are some of the ‘leaked’ features we could see involving crossplay in FIFA 23.

FIFA 23 crossplay leaks

According to the reliable @DonkTrading, crossplay on FIFA 23 may only be available to players using next-gen versions of FIFA 23. This means if you are planning to purchase FIFA 23 on the Xbox One or PlayStation 4, crossplay may not available.

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Steam and Stadia may all be compatible with crossplay in FIFA 23, meaning players from each platform could be able to play with each other. Another major feature of crossplay in FIFA 23 is that it could be implemented into every game mode.

This means FIFA Ultimate Team, Career Mode, Volta, Pro Clubs, Online Seasons and Online Friendlies could all be crossplay on next-gen versions of FIFA 23. With Ultimate Team also included in the list, the leaks suggest that rather than having a FUT Transfer Market for PlayStation, Xbox and PC, FIFA 23 could have one transfer market for all platforms to use.

The final leaked feature of crossplay in FIFA 23 is that it can be turned on and off in the settings of the game. This gives players the option to just play with or against opponents from the same platform.
