FIFA 23 Closed Beta expected release date and how to get a code

FIFA 23 will be released later this year, but before the full release, a handful of players will be able to access the Closed Beta.

It has already been confirmed that FIFA 23 will signal the end of a 30-year partnership between EA and FIFA, so the upcoming game could be the last ever EA Sports FIFA title. The FIFA 23 Closed Beta will allow a handful of lucky players early access to the game before the game's official release, allowing EA to receive feedback and suggestions on gameplay and game modes.

The benefit of the Closed Beta means that EA can iron out any creases the game may have before its full release to hopefully give players the best game possible. Based on past FIFA titles, the Closed Beta codes tend to be sent out to players around two months before the game is officially released.

Closed Beta versions of previous FIFA titles like FIFA 22 , FIFA 21, FIFA 20 and so on have all been released in August before their initial release date. Based on EA's tendency to follow a similar calendar for releases each year, we can expect the same for FIFA 23.

Based on the release of the Closed Beta in FIFA 22, we expect the first FIFA 22 Closed Beta codes to be released on or around August 20, 2021 at around 18:00 PM BST UK time. The second batch of codes for the FIFA 22 Closed Beta are expected to be released around August 27, 2021 at around 18:00 PM BST UK time, with invited players being able to access the Beta until around September 10, 2021.

There are usually two batches of FIFA 22 Beta codes that are sent out, with one wave coming in the second week of August, and the second wave coming towards the end of August. So, if you miss out on a code in the first batch, you may still receive one in the second batch of invitations.

To make sure you give yourself the best chance of receiving a code, make sure you've given EA consent to contact you via email. You can find this option within the Email Preferences tab in your EA Account settings on EA.com. Make sure you tick the box which allows EA to email you about products, news, events and promotions.

When on that tab, there will be a preferred games section. Make sure that you've selected FIFA titles and you've selected your preferred platform at the bottom, then click update.

Lastly, you need to make sure that your Xbox Live or PSN account is linked to your EA account. You can find this on the Connections tab in your EA Account settings - this is all necessary to have a shot at getting a code!

Closed Beta means that only players with invitations can play the early version of FIFA 23, and codes cannot be shared with anyone else. Only players across the UK and US will receive invites, and there are basic requirements needed to be eligible for selection to access the Closed Beta. The requirements are as followed:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Your Xbox/PS account must be from the UK or North America
  • An internet connection
  • An active subscription to either Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus

The FIFA 23 Beta will only be available in English, hence why only players from countries in which English is the native language are invited. In FIFA 22, the download size was around 36GB, and according to many social media sources, the FIFA 23 Closed Beta download size will be around 38.85GB.
