Dominating a sport isn’t necessarily good for the long-term health of said sport. Just ask softball organizers who’ve struggled to make the game an Olympic mainstay while only a couple of teams show any capacity to win. The US women’s soccer team is no longer a prohibitive favorite in any given competition, but that’s a sign that the sport has truly gone global.
