Fiat is giving the family car a second job with its new Multiplay concept, which can turn from a six-seat people carrier into a four-seat pick-up. And it’s not just the bodywork that changes roles: there’s a spoiler that becomes a bike rack and even part of a seat cushion that doubles as a dog lead.
The wacky new model was unveiled at the Stellantis Group’s ‘Night of Stars’ on the eve of the 2026 Paris Motor Show; it’s a 4450mm-long concept car combining people-carrier space, SUV character and pick-up practicality. As with all concepts, it’s a way for Fiat to try out ideas for future cars, rather than a preview of a specific model heading for showrooms any time soon. Like the previous Multipla, the Multiplay (get it?) is designed around families whose need for seats and carrying space can change during a single day, from school and work to sport and outdoor activities. The solution goes beyond rearranging the cabin, though: the rear of the car changes, too.
