A Dutch Cup clash between Feyenoord and Ajax has descended into chaos after Davy Klaasen was left bleeding from his head during a stormy encounter in Rotterdam.
And that unsavoury incident forced both players off with the game suspended before the decision was made to resume by both clubs plus match officials. The great rivals were duelling when the game spilled over when the Dutch international was struck which left a serious wound on his head. The executive decision was made to remove both sets of players from the pitch as a solution was sought. And now the game is set to resume with Ajax 2-1 ahead but further ramifications are set to follow.
And former Rangers star Ronald De Boer was left miffed and reckons the violence on show should be a reminder to all within Dutch football. Posting on Twitter, he said: "When we see this battle between two teams in other competitions, we say that we miss this here in the Netherlands. And now we're going to say it's the fault of the players that this game got out of hand. They probably asked for it...ridiculous of course."
