The Fever snagged the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft on Sunday after winning the draft lottery.
Indiana, which selected Aliyah Boston earlier this year with the No. 1 pick, entered the evening with the best odds to secure the top pick (44%) after registering an 18–58 record during the past two seasons and missing the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season in the 2023 campaign.
The Sparks, which entered Sunday’s lottery with the third-best odds at the No. 1 pick with a 18% chance, will select second overall followed by the Mercury (28%) and Storm (10%).
After drafting Boston ahead of the ’23 season, Indiana has a chance to add another elite player to a budding Fever squad in Iowa superstar Caitlin Clark, who is expected to be the favorite taken at No. 1.
Clark entered her senior season as the reigning consensus National Player of the Year. In addition to Clark, other top players slated to be selected in next April’s draft include UConn star and consensus 2021 National Player of the Year Paige Bueckers, Stanford’s Cameron Brink, the Huskies’ Aaliyah Edwards, Tennessee’s Rickea Jackson, LSU’s Angel Reese, South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso and Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Kitley.
The remaining order for first-round selections and the next two rounds of next year’s draft will be decided by the inverse order of teams’ regular season records in 2023.
Here’s the entire list of first-round selections, as of Dec. 10:
1. Indiana Fever
2. Los Angeles Sparks
3. Phoenix Mercury
4. Seattle Storm
5. Dallas Wings (via Chicago)
9. Dallas Wings
