The two left pit lane running nose to tail and went out for an installation lap in the early running when moments later they went side-by-side and were not giving each other any space coming out of Turn 11. Ferrucci, coming up the inside, managed to get by Grosjean’s No. 77 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet as they approached traffic heading into Turn 12.
A replay showed Ferrucci raising his hand above the aeroscreen of his No. 14 AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet and provided a middle finger salute to the 38-year-old Swiss-born Frenchman.
