Fermanagh restaurants recognised at Irish restaurant awards

A number of hospitality businesses across Co Fermanagh were recognised at the Irish Restaurant Awards at the Slieve Russell Hotel on Tuesday night.

The best of Ulster’s restaurants, cafes and bars were in attendance at the awards night, with Enniskillen restaurant 28 at the Hollow picking up the prize for the best restaurant in Fermanagh.

Run by talented local chef Glen Wheeler and wife Zara McHugh, the latter also picked up the award for best restaurant manager.

In a tweet on the night, the restaurant thanked those from near and far for their continued support since they opened inside Blakes of the Hollow in 2021.

“Humbled to have won this. We have a wonderful team with everyone working together and of course the biggest thanks go to our fantastic guests. Thank you for your continued support,” they said.

Another local face which was recognised among the 15 categories for Co Fermanagh was Mark Edwards of Enniskillen Taste Experience.

Mark runs weekly tours showing off some of the best food and drink the island town has to offer.

The different winners will move on to an All Ireland stage where selected judges from the regional panels join together to form the National Academy.

They will review each finalist, and they will also review the National Category nominees and decide the overall winners. The overall winners in all categories will then be announced at the highly anticipated Irish Restaurant Awards Final in September 2022.
