Fergie is 'not interesting enough' to appear in The Crown, royal expert claims

With the penultimate series of The Crown set to land on Netflix at the end of this year, fans of the royal drama might have noticed one family member missing from the story.

Series four of the period drama came out in 2020, covering the years 1979 right through until 1990, covering a number of significant moments in British history, from Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding to the Falklands War.

But while many of the modern day royals were introduced in this series, the Queen's son Prince Andrew was not one of them - and by extension, neither was his former wife and the mother of his children, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams recently touched on the idea of whether Fergie may appear in the next season of The Crown, while speaking to Kinsey Schofield on the podcast ToDiForDaily.

"I suspect that she isn't really interesting enough," he said, according to the Express, adding that the Duchess, who welcomed two children with Andrew, would "not be pleased about that".

Fitzwilliams even went as far as branding Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's mother as "a disaster as a royal".

The decision not to include Andrew and Fergie would be an interesting one, given that the former couple were arguably one of the most high profile royal couples, who have come with their own fair share of scandals.

Most recently, the Duke of York has been linked to the Virginia Giuffre sex abuse case and recently agreed to pay a settlement fee bring a close to the civil sexual assault case brought by his accuser.

Throughout the ordeal, Fergie has stuck by her ex husband, despite widespread criticism regarding his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
