Sarah Ferguson has opened up on what it's like to be a royal granny, admitting that her grandchildren are "brilliant blessings" and one of them "thinks she's hilarious".
Opening up to OK! Magazine in an interview, Fergie, who is the former wife of Prince Andrew, has spoken about how "proud" she is of their two daughters and the parents they have blossomed into.
February 2021 saw Sarah's youngest daughter Eugenie, 32, and her husband Jack Brooksbank welcome their first child August Philip Hawke Brooksbank – months before another royal grandchild appeared.
And last September her eldest daughter Beatrice, 33, and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, welcomed their daughter Sienna Elizabeth – who is now just eight months old.
The 62-year-old royal grandmother has praised her two daughters for turning out to be "phenomenal mother" and added that she is "marvelling at their brilliance".
Although a doting granny, she thinks that grandparents "should leave their children to do the parenting" and explained how she doesn't want to "interfere too much" but will always be there to "pick up the broccoli when it goes flying at mealtimes".
Opening up on what being a hands-on nan, Sarah explained how her grandchildren often stay over at her home.
The keen novelist explained how she enjoys reading them stories and gets "quite animated" which is something that grandson August, nicknamed Augie, finds funny. The year-old tot thinks that his nan is "hilarious".
The magazine asked Sarah what she plans on being called – whether that be nanny or granny, or something else.
But because the tots are so young and not speaking, they haven't figured it out – but laid back Fergie isn't bothered and said she's happy with whatever they decide to call her.
In her chat with the magazine, she also spoke about Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which will be taking place next month.
On this, she said: "I think it’s a time when the whole nation can unite and put the 'Great' back into Great Britain," before advocating for street parties and regal celebrations.
Sarah Ferguson married Prince Andrew in July 1986, becoming the Duchess of York. They had two daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, before splitting up in 1996.
