A feral teenager who carried out months of random violence including knocking a stranger out cold in the New Year's morning queue at McDonald's has avoided jail.
Layton Chaplin, from Glasgow, stamped on his victim and also knocked a 14-year-old boy unconscious for several minutes and headbutted and kicked a woman in three attacks.
Chaplin, who is now 18, threatened to murder police officers and told them that he would rape their family members.
Racist Chaplin carried out a horrific spree of unprovoked violence which left one victim with a broken jaw and another with a broken nose.
But Sheriff Jillian Martin-Brown allowed Chaplin to walk free from court after being told he had turned his life around since the incidents.
She ordered him to carry out 220 hours of unpaid work in the community and placed him under social work supervision for two years.
Dundee Sheriff Court was told that the campaign of attacks began when he tried to be the first customer through the door at Mcdonald's in 2020.
Fiscal depute Gavin Burton said a queue of people gathered outside the fast food joint shortly before it opened for the year at 8am on January 1.
Chaplin pushed his way in before he was allowed to and threatened to rape staff members before turning his anger towards fellow customer Umayr Mostafa.
The court was told: "They heard him shouting and threatening to rape staff. He punched Mr Mostafa to the jaw. They fell to the ground. He punched him to the head and body.
"As he tried to get up, Chaplin kicked him on the head, causing him to lose consciousness, before stamping on his head."
The court heard co-accused Jay Ciebrant, 18, kicked Mr Mostafa on the back and head before eventually dragging Chaplin away from their lifeless victim.
On 1 June 2020, Chaplin approached a 14-year-old boy in the street and hurled abuse at him before punching him and knocking him to the ground.
"This caused him to fall back and he hit his head and lost consciousness for a number of minutes. The victim sustained a broken nose."
Little over a month later, Chaplin seriously assaulted a woman after being thrown out of a party. He repeatedly punched Alix Scott in the face.
Chaplin burst her nose and then headbutted her and while she was on the ground he continued the attack by kicking her repeatedly on the body.
He ran towards her brandishing a bottle before promising to come back with others to continue the attack. He did return with three other people and tried to get to Miss Scott as she barricaded herself inside a flat.
He issued death threats and branded the police officers who turned up "n****rs" before spitting inside the van after he was arrested in Dundee.
"He made several threats," Mr Burton said. "He threatened to rape family members and kill police officers."
Chaplin, Broomhill Path, Glasgow, admitted a total of eight charges including severely injuring the boy and attacking and injuring Miss Scott.
Both he and Ciebrant, St Michael's Yard, Dundee, admitted attacking Mr Mostafa to his severe injury by stamping on his head and knocking him unconscious.
Solicitor Jim Laverty, for Chaplin, told the court his client had "made significant changes" to his life since the offences and was now working.
Ciebrant was ordered to carry out 180 hours unpaid work in the community.
