The city’s top cocktail bar has teamed up with a retailer synonymous with Newcastle for an unforgettable in-store bar experience, just in time for Christmas.
Voted this year’s best Newcastle bar by The Chronicle, Mother Mercy is today opening a premium site in Fenwick’s Northumberland Street store.
The partnership sees Mother Mercy’s gorgeous signature drinks served to customers in a plush setting while they take a well-earned break from Christmas shopping.

“It has been such an exciting year for Fenwick as we celebrate the 140th anniversary of our very first store here in Newcastle,” said store manager Kieran McBride.
“We wanted to end the year with something special and are delighted to launch Mother Mercy at Fenwick. Mother Mercy has mastered the art of intimate drinking occasions here in the North East and their ethos of excellence in hospitality is something we really admire.
“Partnering on this new in-store concept gives our customers a chance to relax and enjoy a delicious cocktail or two in a truly unique environment whilst shopping and we very much look forward to welcoming our customers to the space.”
The elegant lower-ground-floor bar bursts into life at 11am until the store closes each day - with a team of expert mixologists on hand to whip up a tasty beverage.
Neil Donachie, co-owner of Mother Mercy, said: “We are extremely proud to be partnering with Fenwick to open a new and unique twist on the next Mother Mercy offering inside one of Newcastle’s most iconic buildings.
“For all of us at Mother Mercy and many people from Newcastle, Fenwick is a sentimental brand that holds special memories, and we are delighted to play a small part in its timeless unique customer experience.
“We will bring all the best parts of Mother Mercy: Fresh, passionately crafted cocktails and amazing service with a bespoke twist to suit those looking for pre or post-shopping celebratory cocktails.”
Both alcoholic and low-alcohol variations are available.
