Liverpool Football Club have been put up for sale by their owners Fenway Sports Group in a shock revelation that could play a telling affect to the rest of the Premier League.
The Athletic reported the news on Monday, with David Ornstein stating a full sales presentation has been produced for interested parties. A statement provided to The Athletic by FSG read: "There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumours of changes in ownership at EPL clubs and inevitably we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group’s ownership in Liverpool.

“FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club.
“FSG remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch.”
The group has owned the Reds since October 2010, when it purchased the club from George Gillet Jr. and Tom Hicks. Since their takeover, Liverpool have won their first Premier League title in 2019/20 - their first in 30 years - appointed Jurgen Klopp as manager and also lifted the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
Whilst the news remain fresh, there is a food for thought of how the sale will affect the rest of the Premier League. Liverpool have been members of the elite top four in England for a long period of time and have provided Manchester City with fierce competition for the title in three of the past four seasons.
However, should a potential deal see the new owner completely overhaul how the Merseyside club are ran, then it could open the door for future success for other Premier League clubs. Chelsea are currently experiencing a similar experience with Todd Boehly revamping the club from top to bottom since his takeover.
