A female Garda is under investigation for allegedly harassing the partner of another officer – who has himself been suspended on suspicion of paying a criminal to attack her house.
“It is absolutely crazy what is going on,” one source said last night. “The whole station is gobsmacked by it.”
The Irish Mirror can reveal that the female officer is alleged to have inappropriately accessed the force’s internal computer system to find her love rival’s phone number – and then send her abusive messages and voicemails.
And it’s also alleged that she tried to enter the couple’s house to confront her rival – but was only scared away when the woman started recording the garda on her mobile phone.
Sources have now revealed that the woman, who is not a member of the Garda, has made a complaint to independent policing watchdog GSOC – who have launched a criminal investigation into the female officer.

GSOC declined to comment when contacted by the Irish Mirror.
A spokesman told us: "GSOC cannot confirm the existence of complaints by or against individual persons. This is in order to protect the integrity of the process and the rights of those involved."
However, we have confirmed from multiple sources that GSOC have started a so-called section 98 probe – which is a criminal investigation into the officer.
That probe gives GSOC investigators the power to arrest the garda, as well as detain her and carry out linked searches.
The probe is the latest twist in a long-running saga that has convulsed the Garda outside the Dublin Metropolitan Region – that began with an attack on the female officer’s home almost six months ago.
We revealed late last year that a male garda had been suspended and placed under investigation by the force’s Anti-Corruption Unit after the female officer’s home was attacked.
A brick was thrown through the window of the officer’s home late in November.
Gardai always take threats or attacks on members of the force seriously and detectives began a major probe into the attack.
They soon determined that the attacker was driven to and from the scene by an innocent taxi driver – who just picked him up as a fare and had no idea he was a criminal.
Investigators tracked down the taxi driver – who confirmed he had been asked to bring a man to the estate where the female officer lives.
He also told gardai that the man in the taxi asked him to wait at the scene and he came back a few minutes later before telling him to drive off.
Detectives quickly established that the fare was a low-level criminal and small-time drug dealer from the same town - and he was then arrested on suspicion of attacking the officer’s house.
He was held at the local Garda station – and initially refused to make any comment.
But detectives then raided his house and found a secret phone, with voice notes still on it.
One of the messages, sources say, warned the criminal that he had been identified as the main suspect for the attack on the female officer’s home.
It’s understood the voice note told the criminal to get out of his house before he could be arrested.
The criminal was later confronted with the voice notes and claimed to detectives he was paid €300 by the officer to attack the female garda’s home.
Garda bosses in the station immediately called in the force’s Dublin-based Anti-Corruption Unit – who specialise in hunting down allegations of wrongdoing by serving officers.
The garda was later suspended and is now being investigated for paying for the attack on his colleague’s home – as well as leaking sensitive information. He has been suspended since late last year.
But, in a sensational twist, we have learned that the female officer whose home being attacked sparked the initial inquiry is now under criminal investigation herself.
Sources have claimed that she and the male officer had been having an affair – which went sour before her home was attacked by the criminal.
Sources say GSOC is now investigating claims that the female officer accessed the Garda computer system, to search for her love rival’s details.
It’s claimed that she managed to get the other woman’s phone number and bombarded her with messages.
It’s also alleged she turned up at the couple’s home and tried to gain access, but was chased away.
The male garda’s partner then made a formal complaint to GSOC – who have now begun their criminal investigation.
It’s understood the female officer under investigation has not been suspended.
Garda declined to comment.
