The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled 138,271 toddler kitchen tower stools sold almost entirely through Amazon, and the reason regulators gave is more specific than the usual furniture warning. According to the agency, the towers can collapse or tip over during use, and a child's torso can pass through the openings on the front and back panels.
That second detail is what separates these notices from a routine stability recall. An opening wide enough for a torso but not a head is the geometry that produces entrapment, and the agency's notices describe a risk of serious injury and death from tip-over, fall and entrapment hazards combined.
