Federal agents search Ilhan Omar’s home 3 weeks before re-election. DOJ is allegedly building a case to strip her of citizenship: ‘No basis for this’

Federal agents searched the Washington area home of Representative Ilhan Omar on October 12, marking a major development in an ongoing investigation regarding her citizenship status. Agents from Homeland Security Investigations, which functions as the investigative arm of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, executed a search warrant and left the property with boxes of materials. This action comes less than three weeks before the Minnesota Democrat faces voters in an election she is expected to win easily.

The Department of Justice is reportedly building a case that could lead to the revocation of Omar’s American citizenship, USA Today reports. Two people familiar with the matter stated that investigators are attempting to prove that Omar or her relatives provided false information to immigration authorities when she first became a citizen. If the government succeeds in proving such claims, the next step would involve potential deportation.
