FBI agents entered the home of Thomas Crooks in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, following an incident where the 20-year-old allegedly shot at former President Donald Trump with an AR-15 during a rally in Butler. Fortunately, Trump was unharmed, but three other individuals were hit, resulting in one fatality. The FBI is treating the shooting as an assassination attempt and potential domestic terrorism.
The investigation is ongoing, with FBI technical specialists analyzing Crooks' electronic devices after gaining access to his phone. Nearly 100 interviews have been conducted with law enforcement personnel, event attendees, and witnesses. The FBI is committed to identifying the motive behind the attack and determining if there were any accomplices.
Photos captured FBI agents entering and exiting Crooks' residence, which has been cordoned off since the shooting. Robert Wells, Assistant Director of the FBI's Counterterrorism Division, emphasized the agency's dedication to uncovering the truth behind the incident.
Crooks, who was a member of a local sportsmen's club, graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022 and had received academic recognition for his achievements. Despite being a registered Republican, he had made a donation to a Democratic PAC in 2021.
The shooting took place from a barn rooftop about 160 yards away from where Trump was speaking, resulting in the death of Corey Comperatore and injuries to two others. Secret Service agents responded by fatally shooting Crooks.
The Clairton Sportsmen's Club, where Crooks was a member, expressed condolences to the victims' families and refrained from further comments due to the ongoing investigation. Federal authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist the FBI in their inquiries.
