Following a shooting at a rally for former President Donald Trump, bomb-clearing assets were deployed at the scene as a precautionary measure, according to the FBI. The agency stated that this action was taken out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of investigators and the public.
During a Saturday evening news conference, Kevin Rojek, FBI special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh office, explained that the deployment of bomb assets was a standard procedure in response to the identification of suspicious packages near the location of the shooting. Rojek emphasized the importance of treating any suspicious packages as potential explosive devices to prevent any risks to personnel.
