Celtic target Fausto Vera scored a double for his club and then insisted he's determined to stay in his homeland and help Argentinos Juniors win their title. The 22-year-old midfielder has been strongly linked with moves to both Parkhead and Brazilian giants Corinthians this month.
The Sao Paulo club made an offer of £4 million for 70 per cent ownership of Vera which was rejected by Argentinos Juniors, but they are expected to return again with an improved offer soon. Vera scored two goals as his Buenos Aires club won 3-1 at Barracas Central to take them to joint top of the league with Newell's Old Boys and Atletico Tucuman.
And he's pledged to ignore the speculation and concentrate on the Estadio Diego Armando Maradona club's attempts to win their first title for 12 years. He said: "If we keep winning games like that, then we will continue to be in a good position to win the championship.
"I am really pleased with the win and the two goals I scored. We play against Boca Juniors on Tuesday and that should give us a good idea of where we are at. I am very happy here and I'm only concentrating on my performances for the club. I am not thinking about anything else. We are in a good place at the moment and everyone is happy at the club."
Ange Postecoglou is looking to strengthen in midfield following the departures of Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton and missing out on Vinicius Souza.
