In demand Fausto Vera looks to be edging closer to leaving Argentinos Juniors this summer amid links with Celtic after offering a social media clue before being a mystery absentee from the squad.
The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Parkhead as Ange Postecoglou looks to add depth to his midfield, with Australia international Aaron Mooy set to become the latest addition in the middle of the park. However, the Parkhead boss also looks to turning his attention back to Argentina after securing 21-year-old left back Alexandro Bernabei during this window.
Reports suggest Brazilian side Corinthians have made a formal offer of €6million for 70 per cent of the economic rights for the midfielder, while the Argentinian club have also received a similar offer from Belgian First Division side K.A.A. Gent. A decision from the player appears to be imminent after he removed his boyhood club from his social media profile.
Eagle-eyed fans in Argentina spotted that Argentinos Juniors had been dropped from his Instagram profile. The name has now been replaced with an Argentinian flag.
The wheels appear to be in motion for a move after Vera was announced by the club as a surprise absentee from the squad long list that will take on Boca Juniors on Wednesday. Vera has played a crucial role in the 3-1 win over Barracas Central on Saturday, scoring twice and completing the 90 minutes.
It comes after the player's agent Kristian Bereit stated that he hoped to negotiate an exit from the Argentine Primera División side. He said: "There are a number of clubs fighting to sign Fausto.
"He is a top player, it is normal that there is a lot of interest. As you can see, despite this, he continues to give everything for his childhood team, Argentinos Juniors. We are currently working with the board to, hopefully, reach an agreement for his departure."
