A seven-year-old boy was left alone for several hours on Mount Fuji after his father continued climbing the mountain with his other son, prompting Japanese authorities to warn the man over the incident.

The child was found alone on a hiking trail on Thursday and was taken into police custody, a police officer in Shizuoka told AFP on Saturday.
According to local broadcaster SBS TV, the boy became tired after reaching the mountain's sixth station, which is more than 2,000 metres above sea level.
His older brother had already continued ahead, prompting the father to tell the seven-year-old to "wait here" while he carried on with his other son.
The boy was reportedly left at the spot for around eight hours. TV Asahi, citing staff at a mountain hut, reported that he had only snacks and a soft drink with him and had no money.
Mountain hut staff alerted the police after finding the child alone. Officers later contacted the father, who was at the eighth station at the time, and took the boy into his care after he returned.
The police officer said the authorities gave the father a stern warning for leaving the child unattended on the mountain.
The father reportedly apologised to the police and acknowledged that leaving his son alone had been careless.
