Jailed gangster “Fat” Freddie Thompson went into a rage smashing up his cell after learning of his mother’s death last weekend, but was allowed to pay his final respects to her at a funeral home.
Thompson, who is serving life in prison for the Kinahan cartel murder of shop-keeper David “Daithi” Douglas in 2016, smashed his TV, toaster, microwave and caused hundreds of euro worth of damage at Portlaoise Prison.
On Friday, the 43-year-old is understood to have been taken under armed prison escort to pay his respects to his late mother Lisa, who died last Sunday.
