Farmer Wants A Wife 2026 is well and truly underway, with five leading men on their journey to find the love of their life (or at the very least, get some experience talking to real human women for the first time).
But while Farmers Zac, Alex, Dylan, Jarrad and Jason have been getting to know the contestants, going on dates and attending the Annual Country Ball, many fans have been asking the same question: what happened to the mysterious sixth farmer?
You see, Channel 7 announced in August 2025 that there were six farmers on the lineup for the show’s sixteenth season, with akubra-wearing Farmer John front and centre on the social post.
The 37-year-old beef farmer hails from Mogumber, Western Australia — which had a population of just 58 people in 2021 — and would’ve been the show’s first WA farmer since 2016.
However, John was dropped from the cast when filming began at the end of the year, with no explanation given for his surprise disappearance.
What happened to Farmer John on Farmer Wants A Wife?
During an appearance on PEDESTRIAN.TV’s Villain Edit podcast, the FWAW cast addressed the mystery of Farmer John and revealed that they never had the chance to meet him.
“Justice for John,” Alex remarked.
Zac added that he had “absolutely no idea” why John didn’t end up being a part of the show, although he’s heard “whispers”.
“I think what’s happening there is WA is becoming the new Tasmania,” Alex added. “It’s sort of being cut off from Australia and sort of disappearing over the water.”

This isn’t the first time the reality show has announced additional farmers who didn’t end up being a part of the series.
In July 2024, Channel 7 announced that eight men were in the running to appear on the 2025 season; however, 25-year-old cattle, sheep and crop farmer Chooka and 29-year-old banana and avocado farmer Reidy didn’t end up being cast.
Jack Rowlandson, a 26-year-old cattle farmer from Oberon, NSW, was also axed from the final edit after he was allegedly caught hooking up with multiple contestants during filming and dating women who weren’t on the show. Yikes.
P.TV understands that there are several reasons why farmers might be cut before filming begins, including background checks, a change of mind, boring storylines or a lack of interest from female applicants.
That’s certainly not the case for this year’s five leads, however, with host Natalie Gruzlewski announcing in the premiere that they’d received the most applications ever for this season.
Whether that results in true love is anyone’s guess, though.
