Farage calls for Polanski arrest after Green leader shares ‘sick’ social media post

Nigel Farage has called for Zack Polanski to be arrested after the leader of the Green Party shared a controversial image on social media.

The image, which was posted on Mr Polanski’s Instagram page, shows a man wearing a T-shirt with an image of a guillotine, along with the caption: “We’re only making plans for Nigel”.

The Green Party leader has since claimed that he did not realise the picture was in the post when he shared it online.

A number of Reform MPs have reacted with outrage to the post - which comes just weeks after the alleged murder of Reform spokesperson Ann Widdecombe at her home in Dartmoor.

Reform leader Nigel Farage shared a screenshot of the post on X, with the caption: “This is what Zack Polanski has just posted on his instagram.

“If I was to post anything as inciteful then I would expect to be arrested, and so should Polanski.”

Reform spokesperson for home affairs Zia Yusuf also called for Mr Polanski’s arrest, adding that sharing the image weeks after the death of Miss Widdecombe was “staggering”.

He wrote on social media: “Zack Polanski has posted to his 713k Instagram followers a photo of a man in a T-shirt calling for the beheading of Nigel Farage.

“To do this just 2 weeks after our friend Ann was murdered is staggering. Polanski is inciting murder. It must be treated as such by the police”.

Prosecutors told a court last week that a man allegedly hit the Reform UK spokeswoman and former Tory minister 21 times over the head with a hammer in a “planned and targeted” attack.

Reform Treasury Spokesperson Robert Jenrick wrote on Instagram: “Here is Zack Polanski sharing a message about beheading Nigel Farage. These people are sick.

“This went out to hundreds of thousands of followers. How ironic, when Zack talks endlessly about being kind and loving to each other.

“Unfortunately for them, Reform UK will not be intimidated by the constant threats and abuse.”

Making Plans For Nigel is a song by English rock band XTC, released as the lead single from their 1979 album Drums And Wires.

A post on a website appearing to sell the T-shirt for £20 stated: “Who could Nigel be? And why the guillotine?

“Whether it’s a nod to old punk music or a sharper bit of political satire, this design is for those who prefer their statements with a side of mystery.”

The post has since been taken down from Mr Polanski’s Instagram page.

A Green Party spokesperson said: “After attending a public event, Zack accepted a request to collaborate on a post with several images. Once this image was brought to his attention he immediately unshared the post.

“He unequivocally does not support this type of dangerous message.”

The Met Police have confirmed that the post has been reported to them, and that they are investigating the matter.

A spokesperson for the force said: "On Monday, 27 July, we received a third-party report relating to an image shared on social media.

“We take reports of this nature extremely seriously, and officers are conducting enquiries into the matter."
