The fantasy NBA season is off and running, and you likely haven’t had a chance to process it all. From the fun opening-week games to the random Sunday morning contests that linger behind the NFL’s shadow, there’s just so much going on in the NBA world that’s hard to keep up with.
But we’ve been keeping an eye on everything so that you don’t have to. And today, we’ve got a few players in mind that you might want to consider picking up and putting on your rosters.
Here are five waiver pick-ups to make after the NBA’s opening week of games.
PF Jalen McDaniels - Charlotte Hornets
Not to be confused with his brother Jaden McDaniels, Jalen is having just as good of a start to the NBA season as his younger brother. McDaniels is becoming a consistent and reliable piece off Charlotte’s bench. He’s shooting the three well, doing a decent job on the glass and is also frequently ending up with a steal or block.
SG Bruce Brown - Denver Nuggets
Bruce Brown is one of the best 2022 off-season pick-ups when you consider the value he brings to the Nuggets on the contract he has. Anyways, Brown is doing pretty much everything we saw in Brooklyn that made him a perfectly good fantasy player.
He’s registered at least three assists and has a block or steal in all but one game. Combine that with Brown’s 1.6 3-point makes per game and you’ve got a player to consider rostering.
SG Bojan Bogdanovic - Detroit Pistons
Bojan’s addition to this team was a bit of a head-scratcher, but that hasn’t stopped him from playing phenomenal basketball. He’s mostly just going to provide scoring (23.3 ppg) and 3-point shooting (4.2 3PM) to fantasy teams. But as a manager, if that’s what you’re in the business for, he’s your guy!
SG Trey Murphy III - New Orleans Pelicans
How would you like to have 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds 1.0 steals and 3.3 threes per game on your team? Probably quite a bit. And you can have it if you go now and claim Trey Murphy III from waivers.
Some of this production is coming with Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson off the floor due to injuries, but those guys’ injury history could suggest Murphy’s opportunities throughout the year will be there.
G Ayo Dosunmu - Chicago Bulls
Ayo Dosunmu is the Bulls’ starting point guard — he’s filled in nicely for Chicago’s injured Lonzo Ball. With averages of 12.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.2 steals, the second-year guard provides a little bit of everything.
