While you were sleeping, the Cincinnati Bengals made two huge moves in both real and fantasy football. First, the team added journeyman running back Zack Moss on a two-year, $8 million contract. Tuesday morning, it was reported that Joe Mixon has been traded to the Houston Texans. This creates a very different backfield in Cincinnati for 2024.
Moss, who joins his third team in the last three years, is coming off a solid season that saw him post career bests across the board with the Indianapolis Colts. He was a star at the start of the season, posting at least 17.9 points in four of his first five games, including three with more than 20 points. His stats did decline once Jonathan Taylor returned to action, but Moss still showed he could be a highly productive fantasy option.
With Mixon no longer on the roster, Moss is now the favorite to be the starter in what will be an explosive offense. He’ll likely share some of the workload with Chase Brown, but Moss will be the back to target in drafts. In fact, he could be a solid No. 2 fantasy back as long as the Bengals don’t add another backfield piece.
