Fantasy football waiver wire: Should you keep or cut these 7 players ahead of Week 5?

You’re waking up on Tuesday reading all that you can about the players that you should be picking up off the waiver wire as you prepare for Week 5 of fantasy football in 2022.

But it’s likely there aren’t as many things written about who you should be dropping to grab those players. That’s what this weekly column — keep ’em or dump ’em! — will hopefully answer for you: Some help in the debate over who you should keep or drop in order to improve your team.

It’s a fairly good waiver wire week, so let’s dive in to help you with who to keep or drop:

1
WR Greg Dortch, Arizona Cardinals

He was gobbling up targets — 23 in his first three games — and then got all of ONE on Sunday in a win over the Panthers.

The order seems set — Marquise Brown, Zach Ertz, and now Ronald Moore is back from injury, plus we’re a few weeks away from DeAndre Hopkins coming back from suspension — so I think it’s safe to drop him.

VERDICT: Drop him

2
RB Darrell Henderson, Los Angeles Rams

SIGH. He was the big name to pick up in Week 1, and now he’s ended up with 11 carries total in his past two games.

That said: Cam Akers put up an 8-for-13 game on Monday and Henderson was targeted four times in the passing game. So that’s … something.

VERDICT: Keep him

TE Logan Thomas, Washington Commanders

He’s gotten some targets here and there, but I’d rather look to the waiver wire here with guys like Will Dissly, Hayden Hurst and Ty Conklin.

VERDICT: Drop him

4
WR Julio Jones, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

One catch on two targets against the Chiefs after two games he missed due to injury. With Chris Godwin back, you know what to do.

VERDICT: Drop him

5
WR Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers

Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

He put up a goose egg against the Jets and hasn’t totaled more than 35 yards in a game this year. Even with Kenny Pickett starting, that won’t help him.

VERDICT: Drop him

6
WR Jarvis Landry, New Orleans Saints

After a huge Week 1, he’s fallen to Earth.

VERDICT: Drop him

7
TE Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

This is for those of you considering dropping him: NO. DON’T DO IT. He’ll get it right, and heck, you should trade for him right now with an impatient manager.

VERDICT: Keep him.
