WAHOOOOO! Week 1 of the NFL season — and your fantasy football season — is nearly here.
And maybe you haven’t drafted yet or just had your pick-a-palooza, so the idea of immediately dropping a deep sleeper or someone you’re intrigued by isn’t the most appetizing, especially if that dropped player goes off.
Normally, we’d start waiver wire columns AFTER Week 1 action. But if you have room to add someone, you’ve come to the right place.
We’ve collected a few names to target ahead of Week 1 — just a couple of days away! — as the clock ticks down toward the season starting. Let’s run through them:
1
RB Khalil Herbert, Chicago Bears
I have no faith in David Montgomery this year, and there’s buzz that this is the running back you want from the Bears, especially if he’s more of a fit for Chicago’s offense.
Yes, the offensive line is a concern. But he could catch some passes and have FLEX value or more. If he went undrafted, go get him.
Khalil Herbert is a machine and you should draft him.

2
RB Mike Davis, Baltimore Ravens
Who’s going to carry the ball in Baltimore early? It might be the guy who was a massive bust last year for the Falcons.
Sure, Kenyan Drake is there, but the negative buzz surrounding J.K. Dobbins for the start of the year as he comes back from injury that I’m intrigued by what Davis can do in the first few weeks.
3
WR Jameson Williams, Detroit Lions
A great injury stash if you have a lot of IR spots in your league. He could return to action in November after the Lions drafted him and after his ACL tear at Alabama to finish his college career.
4
Cincinnati Bengals D/ST
How much faith do you have in Mitchell Trubisky? Thought so.
5
WR Wan'Dale Robinson, New York Giants

I think he’s going to be a big part of a Giants offense that’s looking for a big-play receiver.
6
WR Sammy Watkins, Green Bay Packers
Will Allen Lazard play? Will Romeo Doubs be WR1? And is Watkins going to turn back the clock? Could be worth finding out.
7
TE Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
TE Isaiah Likely this preseason:
• 29 routes
• 12 targets
• 12 receptions75% of his receptions went for a 1st down…

OK, fine. The buzz is too much to ignore.
