One Fantasy Premier League player managed to tally 119 points with the highest-scoring team in FPL Gameweek 1.
The return of the Premier League last weekend also meant the return of the Premier League’s fantasy game that runs alongside, FPL. Players had weeks to make their final squad ahead of last week's deadline, and one manager seemed to build the perfect starting XI, tallying a massive 119 points in the first GW alone.
Over double the average score of 57, this player's team consisted of big-hitters such as Erling Haaland, Mohamed Salah and Oleksandr Zinchenko. He also played the risky tactic of using his Triple Captain chip in GW1, though it paid off, with his captain tallying 39 points in total.

Andrew Rodgers, with his FPL team 'Real Social Dad', was the player to claim the world's number one spot for GW1 with 119 points, whilst three players finished below him by just one point. His Triple Captain chip was used on Man City's Haaland, and with the striker grabbing 13 points following the 2-0 win over West Ham, it means that the Norwegian striker totalled 39 points alone.
Along with the likes of Haaland, Salah and Zinchenko, he also had some great differential picks including Aleksandar Mitrovic who scored him 13 points, and Darwin Nunez and James Ward-Prowse, both grabbing nine. Ivan Perisic and Phillipe Coutinho were his only players not able to return any goals, assists, clean sheets or bonus points.
Here's Andrew Rodgers' full squad:
- GK: Edouard Mendy - 7 points
- DEF: Oleksandr Zinchenko - 12 points
- DEF: Ivan Perisic - 1 point
- DEF: Kieran Trippier - 7 points
- MID: James Ward-Prowse - 9 points
- MID: Gabriel Martinelli - 8 points
- MID: Mohamed Salah - 12 points
- MID: Phillipe Coutinho - 2 points
- FWD: Erling Haaland - 39 points (Triple Captain)
- FWD: Aleksandar Mitrovic - 13 points
- FWD: Darwin Nunez - 9 points
Ahead of FPL Gameweek 2, a few players have already seen their prices rise, including the quartet of Haaland, Mitrovic, Martinelli and Zinchenko. The increase to Haaland has sent the forward to £11.6m, Mitrovic increased to £6.6m, Martinelli to £6.1m and Zinchenko rose to £5.1m.
Ahead of GW2, only three players have dropped in price - Thiago to £5.4m, Harry Kane to £11.4m and Timo Werner to £7.9m. Thiago picked up an injury that could rule him out for weeks, Werner is set to leave Chelsea and re-sign for RB Leipzig, and Harry Kane has been sold by over 610,000 managers following his blank in GW1.
