Mrs Brown's Boys star Fiona O'Carroll, who plays Maria on the show, spoke on Virgin Media One's Ireland AM to address rumours of the hit comedy's return.
Previous reports suggested that new episodes of the show were being filmed in April of this year. The show hasn't been on our screens as a regular series of episodes since 2013.
She revealed that fans will be waiting until 2023 until they see the show returning as a regular series.

She said: "‘We were supposed to be doing a mini series this year but, unfortunately, due to various different reasons it didn’t happen. So, there is talk of it happening next year, a possible mini series.
"‘It is not just down to us, it is down to studio time, it is down to crew and it is down to cast."
She added: "With Covid, it was a massively turbulent time and there is huge backlog and all artists and productions are fighting for time and space.
"It is hard to get that time to make stuff and get a slot. Yes, there is talk but whether it happens, I don’t know."
The cast of Mrs Brown's Boys are going on tour this summer, hitting cities between June and November.
Fiona revealed: "We are doing a UK tour in June and we are in Dublin in November. I am going to be flat out this year, which is great.
"After not working for so long, I am like 'Oh my God, this is brilliant'.
"I am going straight from the UK tour of Mrs Brown's Boys into Coppers The Musical for a five week tour."
Although a regular fixture of episodes will not be returning until at least 2023, Christmas and New Year's special episodes of Mrs Brown's Boys are being planned for this year.
Eilish O'Regan, who plays Winnie McGoogan on Mrs Brown's Boys, recently told Ireland AM : "There are mumblings of another four episodes of Mrs Brown’s Boys itself but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
"If it happens I’ll get very excited, but if it doesn’t happen I won’t be upset."
