Fans react to former Tottenham player Jermaine Jenas hosting the Qatar 2022 World Cup draw

Former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas hosted the Qatar 2022 World Cup draw on Friday, with all 32 nations finding out which group they will be in come the tournament in the winter. England feature in pot one alongside hosts Qatar, Brazil, France, Belgium, Argentina, Spain and Portugal.

As for the other home nations, Wales and Scotland are both in pot four as their qualification match is yet to be decided, with the games set to be played in the summer for the final place from UEFA. It marks a historic World Cup, with it being the first time that a nation from the Middle East has hosted the tournament.

The competition is embroiled in controversy, due to the way it was awarded, the working conditions for those building the stadiums and the change in the season due to the weather. It was something that Gareth Southgate and his England players have addressed in recent weeks.

Despite questions over boycotting, the Three Lions boss said he wouldn’t see the point in his side boycotting the competition. It means it should go ahead as planned, with the draw being played out on Friday evening.

Some fans were surprised to see former Spurs player and pundit Jermaine Jenas hosting the draw, taking to social media to discuss their thoughts.
