Fans of hit TV drama S.W.A.T were left seething at the news the show is to come to an end after six series.
And they're not alone as the star of the show admitted it is "horribly sad" to leave the show behind.
The cop drama is one of the broadcaster's most successful shows ever and was thought to be still in its prime, leaving the executive decision to axe it a baffling one.
Viewers have watched on as leading man Shemar Moore, 53, captured the hearts in his role as Los Angeles Police Department's Sgt Daniel Hondo Harrelson.
But it'll soon all come to an end, with CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach releasing a statement which read: "For six seasons, the amazing talents of the S.W.A.T cast led by Shemar Moore, the writers, producers and crew guided by executive producers Shawn Ryan, Andy Dettman and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas brought us compelling, action packed episodes that also addressed important social issues and contributed to the success of our primetime line up.
"We sincerely thank them for their incredible work and passion and also thank our dedicated fans who tuned in every week."
The Hollywood Reporter says the show will now air its last episode on May 19, much to the disappointment of its loyal fanbase.
Shemar said on Instagram he is "sad" at the cancellation, adding the decision "makes no sense".
Many viewers took to Twitter to complain about the decision to bring the show to a close, with one agreeing with Shemar's words, saying: "I’m so mad SWAT was cancelled the show was doing well to it makes no sense."
Another added: "I’m so sad that it is over hopefully a network will pick the show up. S.W.A.T. is one of the best shows out there. It’s going to be hard to find something else to watch. Thank you for the incredible 6 seasons."
A third penned: "This is so sad. Love watching S.W.A.T," along with a crying face emoji, broken heart and an angry face.
The decision to end the show comes as it remained one of the top 20 dramas on ad-supported TV. Last year, its audience had reportedly increased to an average of 6.82million viewers over a seven-day period, compared to 6.41million the year before.
