Strictly fans frustrated as Spoiler mole is unable to leak who leaves contest this week

Sunday night’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing saw the couples take to the dance floor to battle for a place in next week’s final.

The pro-celebrity pairs were tasked with performing two dances to impress the judges during the semi-final, which will take them one step further to lifting the glitterball trophy.

Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal sat at the top of the leader board after the judges awarded them 76 points. Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu had a score of 75, with Fleur East and Vito Coppola just under them with 74. Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez received a 72, while Will Mellor and Nancy Xu were at the bottom with 70.

Some fans argued that Will had received “harsh” judging from the panel for his Paso Doble, especially from Shirley Ballas, who said it lacked “basic fundamentals”.

Following the tense semi-final, fans of the dancing contest flocked to Twitter to see if David Thorpe, known as the The Strictly Spoiler, had leaked which couple would be leaving the contest this weekend.

The spoiler usually leaks on Twitter at about 11:30pm each week, however, it was set to land a day late this weekend.

The England vs France World Cup game took precedence on BBC1 on Saturday evening, knocking the live main Strictly episode to be broadcast last night instead. The results show is scheduled to be shown this evening.

However, it was a long time before the spoiler was released, with many fans becoming frustrated at having to wait up past midnight on a work night.

One person wrote: “#StrictlySpoiler am really getting tired and stressed can we please find out the dance off please”, while a second user pleaded: “#StrictlySpoiler pls hurry up. im stressed and want to go to sleep”.

Others were irritated that they had work in the morning, with an account stating: “waiting for the #StrictlySpoiler knowing i have to be up in 6 hours for work is the worst”.

A fourth simply said: “If any1 was at the show tonight and knows the spoiler I will transfer you £15 to tell me the result #StrictlySpoiler”.

One user joked: “I've grown a beard whilst waiting for the #StrictlySpoiler result”.

Two others directly addressed Dave, with one typing: “@davejthorp you alive love #StrictlySpoiler”, and another writing: “DAVE CAN YOU HURRY UP PLEASE x #StrictlySpoiler”.

However Dave tweeted at 12:47am this morning to advise fans of the show there would be no spoiler.

He wrote: “Sorry guys but that’s about me for the night as I have a lecture at 9am I’ve no mole and other (reputable) sources are struggling too. There will be a spoiler but it’s either going to be overnight or early morning if a mole comes through or I have my other source I used in covid”.

Some Twitter accounts alleged they knew who was leaving the contest due to having family and friends in the audience, however these claims have not been confirmed by the Strictly Spoiler.

One person stated they had heard who was eliminated, tweeting: "judges said it was close".

Strictly Come Dancing's results air tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
