NFL Network inadvertently trolled Arthur Smith in the funniest way possible while discussing his firing by the Atlanta Falcons Sunday night.
Smith was dismissed Sunday evening after a third straight 7–10 season in Atlanta. After announcing the firing on the network based on reporting from NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the show pivoted into a sponsored segment naming players of the week sponsored by FedEx. Arthur Smith’s father, Fred Smith, is the founder and former CEO of FedEx.
“Oh, this is not nice,” NFL Network host Chris Rose said as the graphic popped up on screen. “The FedEx Air and Ground players of the week for the guy who’s a relative of FedEx. But this is what we’ve got to do sometimes, people!”
Here’s the hilarious clip.

It seems rather unlikely that this was intentional, but either way, the timing of the ad read was just too good. Fans quickly noticed and jumped on social media to laugh about the unfortunate timing for Smith.
