Coronation Street residents and viewers were confused as a woman from a donkey sanctuary made her debut.
As the Coronation Street residents went about their day in what was a relatively quiet change of pace for the cobbles, Barbara from "the donkey sanctuary" quickly made her presence known. The latest addition to the show appears to have come out of thin air as neither the residents nor viewers know who she is.
Barbara first appears on screen stopping Gary to ask him to adopt a donkey which leaves him visibly confused. Several pleas later from the donkey representative and a few jokes from Gary, the pair go their separate ways but not before he's left gobsmacked at the suddenly bewildering encounter.

Making her way around the doors, Barbara strikes gold with Tim who welcomes her into his home and ends up donating £50 to the sanctuary. Despite leaving with his money, Tim admittedly still has "no idea who she is" or where the new character came from. Viewers related to both Gary and Tim as they too have no idea where Coronation Street is taking the latest storyline.
One viewer said: "This donkey thing is so random."
Another viewer added: "Still wondering if I didn't just hallucinate that donkey woman scene."
A third comment said: ""How do you feel about Donkeys?" LMAO this story. WHY."
A final viewer added: "“Do you like donkeys” who is this woman?"
Tim was left red-faced after his encounter with Barbara as he mistook her for a sex therapist hired to help his sex life with Sally. Quickly shooing her out the door, he handed over his money out of embarrassment but is still no wiser as to who or why this "donkey woman" has suddenly appeared on the street.
