Thirty years after a young fan helped the New York Yankees secure a controversial playoff home run, another spectator's interference produced the opposite outcome, denying the team a potentially crucial run against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, during Game 3 of the American League Division Series, when Anthony Volpe's apparent home run was overturned following a video review.
