Hundreds gathered for a "beautiful and emotional" service at the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral in December as mourners from across the city came together to pay their respects to the much-loved youngster.
Now, family and friends wanted to do something special to mark what would have been Ava's 13th birthday.
At 6.30pm on Sunday, January 23, a special balloon release will be held at the Hillsborough Memorial at Anfield as friends, family and people across the Liverpool City Region are invited to attend.
A charity event in memory of the Liverpool youngster will also be held on February 25.
Held at the Sandon Complex in Anfield, the ticketed event has already seen dozens of local businesses across Liverpool rally to show their support by donating items to raffle off.
All money raised will go towards helping Ava's loved ones in their grief.
Family friend Lesleyanne Moore, who is helping to organise both events, said: "Kev, myself and Hannah are the organisers of the charity night and balloon release.
"We'd like to thank BOC Liverpool for their donation of the XL helium tank for us to fill 1,000 red and blue net balloons for Ava’s birthday release and we are also asking people to bring a balloon if they can.
"Tickets for the charity night can be purchased from Hannah’s business at Trusellas.
"Also Kate Stewart who owns the Sandon complex has kindly donated up the use of her largest function suite, and Mersey Print have donated us all the tickets banners posters and flyers."
The charity event held in February has already seen a staggering £8,000 worth of prizes donated, with more being added daily.
Artist John Culshaw has also told of plans to create a mural around Anfield in memory of Ava and to promote the No More Knives campaign.
More information about the event is available via Instagram here or via Facebook here.
Ava's death shocked the city region as hundreds of tributes poured in.
Comforting one another, mourners arrived at the Cathedral in the rain for funeral service at 10am on December 23, with many wearing bright colours and jumpers and tops bearing pictures of Ava.
Photographs of the schoolgirl covered her coffin, which arrived in a white horse-drawn carriage after a procession through Liverpool - arriving at the Cathedral to a round of applause.
In an emotional speech at the service, which was open to the public and media, Archbishop Malcolm McMahon said that there was "little sadder in life than the death of a child".
A 14-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons because of his age, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on December 1 charged with murder and possessing an offensive weapon.
