Family run Ten Streets Market confirms closure 'with a heavy heart' after four years in business

The mother-daughter team behind the popular Ten Streets Market have confirmed "with a heavy heart" that it's closing down, almost four years to the day since getting the keys to the space.

A quirky venue packed with more than 25 arts, crafts, fashion and furniture stalls, the industrial warehouse on Cotton Street quickly amassed fans thanks to its eclectic, vibrant stock, housed in a welcoming and unique setting. It was the brain-child of local entrepreneur Tina Kavanagh and her daughter, Georgia.

The mother-daughter team opened the innovative space after feeling there was a gap in the market for a creative, family-friendly hub. Now, the pair have confirmed Ten Streets Market will close its doors for good on Sunday, May 1 due to "circumstances beyond control".

Taking to Instagram to reveal the news in an emotive post, Georgia and Tina shared their sorrow to be closing. They penned: "It has been almost 4 years to the day since we got the keys to this big old warehouse that is over 8500 square foot based in the Ten Streets redevelopment. How time has flown by.

"And 3 ½ years since we have been open to you lovely people. But we have made the difficult decision to close Ten Streets Market completely. It has been done with a very heavy heart due to circumstances beyond our control.

"Under the umbrella of Ten Streets Market we have run several businesses, which has allowed us to be creative and share our passions. We have loved having our businesses and don't regret the decision to close it. So instead of feeling regret or beating ourselves up for the things we did not achieved or opportunities we did not take. We are going to be proud of ourselves for what we achieved.

"Transforming a disused warehouse that had been vacant for over 3 years into a Cultural Enterprise Hub providing a home and support for small independent creative businesses in vibrant, quirky and bohemian space with sustainability at the heart of what we do. We have met so many traders and customers that have been so kind and unbelievably supportive of us. Who had been total strangers before but feel they are truly friends now.

"It has been lovely meeting you guys and you have made this journey so much enjoyable and that's why we found it so hard to make the decision to close. It been amazing to have this opportunity to work as mother and daughter together and this will be one of the things we miss too. Our last day of trading will be Sunday 1 May 2022, we hope to see you all before we finally close our doors.

"Lots of love and thank you all for being a big part of our lives and being on this incredible journey with us. Georgia and Tina P.s We know lots of you love some of our iconic pieces – well all items are now up for sale please put you notification on as we will be showing them on our stories."

Ten Streets Market is based on Cotton Street, Liverpool L3 7BX. It will be closing its doors for good on May 1.
