A FAMILY-RUN cafe in a historic Scottish town has closed after 63 years in business.
The Grain, located in the East Lothian town of Haddington, is closing after manager Ricky Morga announced his retirement after 45 years running the business. Morga took over the cafe from his parents, delighting locals with its Italian cuisine.
The Grain’s Facebook page made the announcement, writing: "After 63 years at 14 High Street, the time has come for Ricky to hang up his pinny for once and for all.
"We will be closing on Sunday, June 2. A heartfelt thank you to all our customers for your support over the years.
"From the very beginning, it’s been a beautiful family affair with memories made that we will always hold close to our heart.
"Wishing you a very happy Retirement Ricky.
"Family run since 1961."
Locals expressed their disappointment at the move but also appreciation for Morga.
"The Grain will be well and truly missed," said one person.
Another added: "All the best for a fabulous and well earned retirement. What a loss for Haddington."
