Family pays tribute to ‘highly experienced’ skydiver following his death

  • Chas McNeil, a 49-year-old highly experienced skydiver and wingsuit coach from Poole, Dorset, died following a jump at Dunkeswell Aerodrome near Honiton in Devon on Saturday.
  • Mr McNeil, who had completed over 10,000 jumps, was using his personal equipment and an advanced wingsuit while jumping with a friend.
  • In a short tribute, his family said: “Keep your chin up and when you look up at the sky, think of Chas”.
  • Devon and Cornwall Police, British Skydiving, and East Devon District Council are conducting ongoing enquiries into the circumstances of his death.
  • Skydive South West, which operates from the aerodrome, expressed deep sadness and urged the public to avoid speculation, while British Skydiving confirmed a Board of Inquiry would be convened.
