Family pay tribute to cyclist, 58, who died in Ammanford crash

A cyclist who died after a crash in a Carmarthenshire village has been named. David Paul King, who was 58, died in the incident on Friday night.

The collision, which only involved one cycle, happened at around 8.45pm outside the Discovery Book shop on Cwmamman Road in Garnant, on the outskirts of Ammanford. Mr King, known as Dai and originally from Swansea, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but sadly died. His family said he would be “sadly missed by all his family and friends”.

Police are still appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward. A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: "We are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision, involving a pedal cycle, which occurred at around 8.45pm on Friday, May 6, outside the Discovery Book Shop on Cwmamman Road, Garnant.

"We are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the pedal cyclist at the relevant time, or who may have dashcam footage if they travelled along this stretch of road at the time, to get in touch. Also local residents and business owners are asked to contact police if they have any CCTV footage covering the location.

"Anyone with information that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to Dyfed-Powys Police, either online, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.”
