The family of tragic Lanarkshire teen Amber Niven are asking people to remember the bright 16-year-old one year on from her death this weekend.
Carol and Craig Niven, along with daughters Laura and Lisa, have asked that anyone with a social media account places a sunflower emoji or picture on their page this Saturday, November 26.
The date marks one year on since Amber died in tragic circumstances within Cadzow Glen, close to Hamilton town centre.
The sunflower was Amber's favourite and represents her bright and beautiful nature, a memory the family hold close to their hearts.
Mum Carol, of Larkhall, told Lanarkshire Live : "This Saturday marks one year on since we lost our beloved Amber. It has been the hardest year of our lives.
"She is deeply missed and therefore we are asking all those who knew and loved Amber to please place a sunflower on their social media page/wall this Saturday as a mark of respect and in memory of our beautiful girl."
Amber, an artistic, outgoing and keen singer, had been reported missing from her Hamilton home on Friday, November 26, last year, sparking a huge police search.
Tragically, her body was later discovered two days later, on Sunday, November 28. within a wooded area in the park.
The youngster would have turned 17 on New Year’s Day.
The news of Amber’s death sent shockwaves through the Lanarkshire community and left her family devastated.
Amber’s older brother, Connor Gibson, has since appeared in court charged in connection with her death.
The 19-year-old faces a charge of sexual assault and murder and is further accused of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
A second man, Stephen Corrigan of Blantyre, was later charged with attempting to defeat the ends of justice in the case.
A trial date has been set for July of next year.
