Family of sorely missed mum urges women to 'know your body' to detect cervical cancer quickly

The family of a mum who lost her battle with cervical cancer is urging women to 'know their bodies' and detect the disease early.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness month and Rachel Kennedy's loved once say they want to reintroduce her ‘Wear That Dress’ campaign to advocate for woman to attend their screening appointments and know their own bodies.

They are asking everyone to step into something special tomorrow (Thursday).

It could be a special dress, shirt or even a lipstick you have that makes you feel good.

Take a photo and send it into the Facebook page Be The Queen of Your Own Castle and a collage will be shared the following day.

The family said: "Many of you will know Rachel's story where she was diagnosed with cervical cancer in November 2020 and sadly passed away in October 2021.

"This was a campaign that Rachel introduced for herself on her first day of treatment, and we would like to continue with raising awareness in her honour

"Rachel always said ‘I will not lose my fight to cancer, because when I die, the cancer will die’.

"Have fun, get creative and embrace your bodies. But above all else let’s raise awareness for cervical cancer and let’s raise hope.

"We look forward to seeing all your photos and share them with you all soon

"Please share to help with raising awareness. Thank you."
