The family of a Nigerian woman who died after allegedly being set on fire by her estranged husband say Scots have offered to care for her four children.
Chinyere Ogudoro moved to Scotland with her children four years ago to study at Glasgow Caledonian University and gained a master's degree in international business management.
On a trip back to her homeland, the 46-year-old and her brother Ifeanyi Edoziem suffered fatal injuries during an alleged incident at her family home in Lagos.
Her husband Benjamin Ogudoro, 50, has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is accused of having set his estranged wife and brother-in-law on fire as they slept.
The siblings' cousin, Stanley Ike, has told the Daily Record that Chinyere's four children - aged 18, 16, 13, 8 - remain in Scotland.
The children are being cared for by a family member living in the UK have been flooded with offers of help to care for the children in Scotland.
The 41-year-old said: "The kids are in Scotland and an aunt is caring for them and they've had so many offers of help from people to care for them after their mum's tragic death.
"We don't want the children to travel to Nigeria for their own good. We don’t know what evil is there.
"We want to keep them in the UK, it’s better for them. The siblings need to be together and we won't let them be separated."
Chinyere travelled home to Nigeria lastThursday and died at the scene of the alleged incident in the early hours of Friday morning.
Her brother Ifeanyi, whose wife is expecting their second child, later died in hospital.
But before he passed away he was able to give a dying declaration to police, alleging that his brother-in-law was responsible.
Ifeanyi alleged Mr Ogudoro 'poured petrol' on the siblings before lighting a match.
He managed to escape the burning house but said he couldn't save his sister.
Stanley claims Mr Ogudoro had been abusive to his wife in the past and says the family is now living through a 'nightmare'.
In a touching tribute to Chinyere, who he grew up with in Nigeria, the dad-of-four said: "She was everything, she was big a sister, she was friendly and hardworking and someone you look up to if you want to make something of yourself.
"Throughout our childhood she looked after everyone.
"If you called her, she would give her your heart and help in any way she could. Everybody that knew her in Scotland, the friends she met there, are all in tears."
He added that the siblings' heartbroken mum is struggling to come to terms with their tragic deaths.
He said: "Chinyere’s mum doesn’t know why she’s living when her first daughter and first son are gone. It’s just heartbreaking."
