Family left stranded with no info at airport for ten hours before finally being told their flight was cancelled

Passengers have been left frustrated by long delays at airports all over the country with one family enduring a 10-hour wait before being told their flight was actually cancelled. Ruby, her husband and two sons were supposed to be enjoying a £3,000 holiday at a Turkish resort but haven't left the UK yet.

The family told BirminghamLive they arrived at 2.30pm on Friday for a 5.15pm plane to Dalaman, where they were hoping to celebrate Ruby's 40th birthday. But just 15 minutes before their flight was due to depart, it was reportedly delayed before it was axed at 11pm, with the 'confused and weary' passengers told to board a coach to a hotel, reports Birmingham Live.

Ruby says the family are booked on another flight tonight, which is due to leave at 9pm but says she is not 'holding her breath." The mum said: "I'm absolutely gutted. The lack of communication is something else. I'm on the edge.
