Family devastated as they miss Ryanair flight for £1,500 holiday after being left stranded in Manchester Airport queues

A family who missed their flight due to the Manchester Airport queueing chaos still weren't allowed to board when their plane turned back due to a medical emergency.

Michelle Donohue and her family missed the flight's original departure after being stuck in queues at security at the crisis-hit airport for over four hours. And she says she has now missed out on a precious holiday and been left 1,500 out of pocket after still being unable to take their seats when the plane returned to the terminal.

She said she witnessed people collapsing during her fruitless wait in the huge queues which she has described as 'traumatic.' Michelle 32, had planned a four day trip to Rome with husband Robert and their 12-year-old son, which would have been the family's first trip abroad since the Covid pandemic began, and were booked Ryanair flight to the Italian capital on due to depart at 7:15am on Tuesday morning.
