One delighted family is celebrating great-great news – the arrival of a special little lady who marks the fifth generation of women in her family.
Delilah Jane Irvine is the fifth generation of girls in the family and they have now been pictured all together for the first time.
The tot is joined by her mum Georgia Mitchelson, 22, gran Kelly Amers, 41, great-gran Theresa Coates, 60, and great-great-gran Sheila Maguire, 86.
Nanna Kelly said: “Everyone is so happy to see Delilah.
“She is gorgeous and I get to see her every day. It’s lovely to have five generations in the family – it’s really quite something.
“There can’t be many families who can say they have five generations, so it feels very special.”
Delilah arrived in the world at hospital in Cramlington, Northumberland, on March 20, weighing in at 8lb 10oz.
Her mum said the baby is “keeping us up all night” but is doing well.
Georgia, from Burradon in North Tyneside, added: “It’s amazing that we have five generations in the family now. Everyone is over the moon.”
The rest of the women are also from Tyne and Wear, including great-great-gran Sheila, of Wallsend.
But they're not the only family to have five generations of women, still alive.
One family from Nottingham, had almost 90 years between the youngest and oldest members of their family.
Riley Lowe, now 16 months old, has joined a long line of women in her family from Nottingham – headed by her 90 year old great, great gran Eileen.
After lockdown kept them apart, the family could finally reunite once more.
Asher Peck, a first time mum, said: “Everyone knew I was going to have a girl, but she kept us waiting and at our 20 week scan nurses couldn’t be sure so we didn’t actually find out until I was 28 weeks that I was carrying the fifth generation female.
“But everyone was more than confident she was going to be a girl.”
Riley has her gran Michelle, 44, great gran Catherine, 66 and her great great gran, Eileen 90, to look up to for advice.
The female support doesn't end there as she also has three aunties as mum Asher is the eldest of four girls.”
Great Gran Eileen was fortunately able to meet Riley who was born in January 2020 just before the lockdown.
But due to her frail health and age, she hasn’t seen her in over a year.
During lockdown the eldest and youngest in the family kept in touch online.
