Georgia is currently awaiting a significant hearing that is set to commence shortly. Fani Willis, the District Attorney (DA) of Fulton County, is at the center of this case. Initially, Willis had brought forth a racketeering (RICO) case against 18 defendants, including former President Donald Trump. However, currently, only 14 co-defendants remain. In order to oversee this case, Willis appointed Nathan Wade as the special prosecutor. It is noteworthy, though, that Wade has limited experience in prosecution and has never tried a felony RICO case before.
The issue at hand in today's hearing revolves around the romantic relationship between Willis and Wade. The concern arises from allegations that Willis financially benefitted from this relationship. Consequently, several motions have been filed with the aim of disqualifying Willis from the case and potentially even getting the entire case dismissed. Interestingly, Wade has reportedly earned over $650,000 from his involvement in this case, and the defendants and co-defendants are seizing the opportunity to capitalize on this fact. They assert that Wade used this money to fund extravagant vacations with Willis.
