Fallout 2 among eight free games for Amazon Prime members this month

Amazon Prime members can grab eight PC games including Fallout 2 at no extra cost this month.

Amazon’s subscription service comes with extra perks, including a monthly bundle of free games to download and keep. Customers can also get hold of exclusive in-game loot and one free Twitch channel subscription per month.

After giving away the original Fallout in February, which you can still claim, Amazon is now offering its sequel as part of its March lineup of Prime freebies.

Prime Gaming free games for March

You can view the full list of free games below, along with the digital stores they can be downloaded from. Like most Prime Gaming drops, the titles are only playable on PC.

  • Fallout 2 (available March 7 - GOG)
  • Scarf (March 7 - Amazon Games app)
  • Invincible Presents: Atom Eve (March 14 - Epic Games Store)
  • Mystery Case Files: Moths to a Flame (March 14 -Amazon Games app)
  • Pearls of Atlantis: The Cove (March 21 - Legacy Games code)
  • Bus Simulator 21: Next Stop (March 28 - Amazon Games app)
  • Through the Darkest of Times (March 28 - Amazon Games app)
  • Bridge to Another World: Secrets of the Nutcracker (March 28 - Amazon Games app)

Admittedly, you’ve probably never heard of most of the titles on offer. But, that doesn’t matter because the only one you need to pay attention to is Fallout 2. The sequel is widely hailed as one of the best role-playing games of all time.

Set 80 years after the events of the original Fallout, in the year 2241, you’re tasked with finding a terraforming device that can save your primitive village from post-apocalyptic calamity.

It came out in 1998 and the graphics leave a lot to be desired compared with today’s blockbusters. Nevertheless, this is where the DNA of the series was formed, including its dark humour, deep character customisation and open world exploration.

It was also ahead of its time. Fallout 2 was one of the first games to feature same sex marriage and LGBT representation.

Amazon and Bethesda are pulling out all the stops before the release of the splashy Fallout live-action TV show next month. The back-to-back free Prime games follow the release of an epic, seven-game Fallout anthology, which comes packaged inside a mini-nuclear bomb.
