According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, Pittsburgh Steelers defensive assistant coach Brian Flores has interviewed for the defensive coordinator position with the Atlanta Falcons.
Flores joined the Steelers before the 2022 season after a phone call with Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin and Tomlin added Flores to be the linebackers coach and a defensive special assistant. The Steelers defense struggled last season while linebacker T.J. Watt was injured but found its stride and improved linebacker play was a part of it.
Flores was fired as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. From the moment he was hired by the Steelers, everyone understood Flores’ days were numbered with Pittsburgh. He has proven to be in demand this offseason as he is a candidate for multiple coaching spots including the head coach position with the Arizona Cardinals.
In other Steelers coaching news, while Pittsburgh is likely going to lose Flores, the team announced they have no plans to move on from polarizing offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
